MEET THE GRAVITY COWBOY… BROCK CAHILL

So excited to be welcoming Brock Cahill (along with his wife Krista ) to Boston on Super Bowl Sunday for SUPERFLOW.  Brock is an instructor with YogaWorks, Equinox Fitness and Yoga Salt.  Great to catch up with him here in advance of his upcoming east coast appearance…   wind up…  how do you wind up, prepare for the week ahead? like a lotta folks, the best way to psych myself up is through really great music!  i enjoy threading musical gems together that will create a wonderful sequence of rhythm and melody, and a soundtrack to practice that when interwoven, the similarities, the differences, the common themes, the oppositions, meld into something much more beautiful and powerful than any single piece of the puzzle.  the same can be said of asana and sequencing.  the same can be said of the yoga community and the laws of union. for instance when a drop of water falls into the ocean, it does not diminish the power of the individual, but yolks it into something with much greater impact and depth.   and, when you need to exhale…  what’s your other direction? when i need to blow off some steam and get a breath of fresh air, i head out to sea.  i find limitless space and freedom by harnessing the power of the wind on my antique wooden sailboat, or by diving beneath the surface to commune with self and soul in the inner sanctum of earth. favorite high powered snack? spirulina and blue green algae!  love it in my smoothies.   what three things are you never without? i am never without purpose, or love for my wife, or gratitude for […]

Tie for a Thievery Corporation song….one of these: Take My Soul, Satyam Shivam Sundram, or Lebanese Blonde Bonus track: Empty by Ray Lamontagne  your bible…  what one book do you turn to time and time again for inspiration? While I have a large stack beside my bed, some of my current go-tos are The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer, Mastery by George Leonard, and The War of Art by Steven Pressfield best part of your day? A hot shower is one of my favorite rituals, but anything to do with water, drinking water, hot tea, hot baths, gazing out over the ocean. Second, the soothing sanctuary of meditation. Downward facing dog. Sitting with my puppy. Sharing a cup of tea with friends and family. Watching the sun rise, seeing the moon in the night sky. […]
