SMALL BATCHED IN BROOKLYN
The creative team of herbalists behind Mullein & Sparrow are guided by their conviction that authentic beauty unfolds naturally. That belief coupled with their commitment to cultivating and blending only the purest botanicals is distilled into every product in their holistic apothecary line. “We believe in nurturing the mind, body, and spirit as a pathway to inner and outer beauty,” says esthetician, herbalist and Mullein & Sparrow founder Anit Hora.
When it comes to developing products, it’s all about soothing and nourishing. New for this season, Mullein & Sparrow’s Immortelle & Myrrh Facial Serum and Sandalwood and Sage Face Mist, both easy to use on-the-go, embody their holistic approach to beauty. Mildly scented, in concert the two products pack a one two re-set. A quick mist to dampen the face followed by a small application of the serum will launch you into your summer day feeling awake and refreshed.

Born in India and raised in New York City, founder Anit Hora’s childhood was informed by the principles of Ayurveda. Those threads of (ancient Indian) traditional medicine proved informative throughout her professional path. A solo journey backpacking alone throughout South America reintroduced Ms. Hora to the power of that plant-based healing she recalled from her early years. With those merits re-awakened, she returned to New York empowered to immerse herself in the studies of herbalism, aromatherapy, skincare, and yoga. Those trainings sprouted her career shift and her swift success as a holistic esthetician and herbalist and eventually, in 2012, her signature apothecary in Brooklyn’s Bushwick. “We are each responsible for our output in this world, and the quality of our output is directly related to how we take care of ourselves. That self-care creates the foundation which allows us to extend a hand outward.”
“We LOVE Mullein & Sparrow,” beams Sandra Sigman of the north shore’s floral, home and garden showroom Les Fleurs, “Their products are a big hit here at the store! I think everyone likes the natural, botanical elements of their products. The French lavender body oil is divine & the chamomile face mist is amazing too, so refreshing.”
Toting enhancements (in your yoga or gym or hand bag) such as a Mullein & Sparrow face mist or serum offers a whisper of the earth… a simple dash of self-care and an ideal antidote to the ruckus. Mullein & Sparrow’s full product line is available through their website and at a host of retail outlets from Long Beach, CA to Middlebury, VT.
